People remain confused between a front wheel drive (FWD) vehicle and a rear wheel drive (FWD). The answer is simple and depends on the location of the work wheels. These propel the vehicle, while the others merely spin as the car moves.
With FWD both front wheels are attached to the transmission through a series of connection parts. On FWD either one or both rear wheels do the work and are connected with a driveshaft that runs down the center of the body.
Both have unique advantages for the driver. Front wheel drive vehicles are excellent on wet or snowy roads. This is because the front wheels pull the car through turns and use the weight of the engine to bear down on the wheels and provide more traction. Rear wheel drives may be considered more stable for larger cars, as the weight is distributed more evenly.
